You tell em girl

"The last thing a young woman needs is another picture of a sexy pop star writhing in sand, covered in grease, touching herself. My image was an issue at my record label. I fought for months and cried at meetings. I got criticized for being arrogant because if you're sure of yourself as a woman they say you're a bitch whereas if you're a man and you're strong-willed it's normal."

Long Live McQueen

1969-2010

Was extremely saddened to hear of the unfortunate passing of one of my favorite designers Alexander McQueen. His innovative and beautifully crafted designs always with a hint of gothic aesthetic were an inspiration to myself and the store Twice Bitten. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy of his beautiful, ground breaking designs and leaves a large hole in the fashion industry. Such a tragic ending to such a wonderful career.
Long live McQueen!

DRESS YOUR AGE?HELL NO!

We've all seen those articles in the top fashion magazines-HOW TO DRESS YOUR AGE; with the following tips on how to dress in your 20's, 30's, 40's and beyond.Everytime I see these articles I can't help but gag a little on the rules they throw at every age group and the older you get the 'stuffier' your clothing must get.DOWN WITH THESE 'rules'I say!Of course there are some exceptions; Im not saying a 60 year old should wear the same outfits as a 16 year old; it does have to all be done with some taste and tact of course. But just because I have 'crossed over' into my 30's and am a Mom doesn't mean I am going to start raising the waistline of my jeans!I have actually found that my style has become sexier and more daring and innovative then ever before. The one thing I hate to hear when it comes to Twice Bitten is "I love your clothes; but I am too old to wear them!"I have had customers all the way from 12 years old to people in their 60's that are rocking our styles- styles that transcend to ANY age.We have a little something for everyone; as long as Twice Bitten suits your taste of course.
I adore the looks of ladies like Cyndi Lauper; Cher; Joan Jett etc. who have kept their style and kept very current and haven't sacrificed their sex appeal and their adventurous fashion nature.I just saw an interview today with Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper together for Viva Mac Glam; and I seriously couldn't take my eyes of Cyndi! And that says alot being beside the fashion 'IT' girl and phenomenon Lady Gaga.Cyndi was impeccable with a gorgeous black silk and lace dress suit; leather studded motorcycle gloves and massive wicked head piece that seemed to drown out Gaga's hairbow. These women give me peace and assurance, knowing that just because we age doesn't mean we have to sacrifice our personal style, flair and sex appeal!

THE BRITISH ARE COMING!THE BRITISH ARE COMING!

Yes the sounds of the 60's and the Beatles are a big influence on Fashion still today; what a wonderful decade it was for Fashion-and the Beatles always were on top of being cutting edge and experimental with their outfits; especially as the 60's rolled on(and the drug use became more heavy!).British fashion has always been a big influence on our style over here in North America- from the shaggy haircuts and skinny pants;skinny ties; Beatles boots; tight tees;but it always goes back to the Fab 4.Their influence on bands such as Oasis and Coldplay is plain as day(the sargeant Pepper military style jackets). We have added a new item to our store to pay homage to Britain and all the wonderful music and fashion they have given us from past to present!Check out our "British Invasion Tee"($46.00); it's a fab tunic tee with the graphic of the Union Jack distressed and punked out on the front; and a plain black back; very high quality tee- and it's not just styled as a regular tee; it has a bit of an 80's influence on the sleeves and a bit of a looser fit.Perfect for wearing with a pair of tights or skinny jeans-throw on a funky hat; your favorite sneakers or boots;top with a military styled blazer(in our vintage jackets category) and you will be rockin' the British invasion look from Twice Bitten.

Yeah Yeah YEAH!!-Karen O's influence on Twice Bitten

Here is another one of Twice Bitten's top influences on our style. Karen O exudes my favorite characteristic when it comes to fashion-PERSONAL style and expression of her art through her style.Karen O had the fashion as an art form down pat way before any one had even heard of Lady Gaga. From her glam rock crazy stage creations to her more demure classy edgy outfits she gets every look right because it all comes from HER; not some stylist.Always a trend setter and not a follower; from her hairdo's down to her toes Karen O is one of the top most daring and has the classic rock n roll style, but with a futuristic twist down to an art form. And man can she put on a show...
To get a Karen O look from Twice Bitten try this: The "Go Gaga" Top ($36.50) pair this with a pair of tights or skinny pants with some ankle boots or even a pair of converse; then top it off with a leather jacket(always have some in our vintage jackets category) and you are rockin' one of Karen's looks.

Favorite "momma" Style...of course, GWEN!

This woman could wear a paper bag and somehow make it fashionable-Gwen's style is definitley an influence on Twice Bitten;the glamourous rock side that she has.She does tend to wear alot more color than we serve up at our store; but her throwback to the pin up girl styles that she rocks every once in a while is perfection. You can definitley find clothing and dresses at our store that scream Gwen. And trust me it isn't always easy as a Mommy to be a picture of fashion; but SOMEHOW Gwen seems to never be caught not looking like a HOT MAMA!Now that's an inspiration; because who said just because you are a Mom you can't dress like a rock star?
For a Gwen look from Twice Bitten try this: Our Jane of the Jungle Dress(above,$47.50)Gwen has always loved the animal print- with some funky tights and motorcycle styled boots.Top it off with a tailored vintage leather jacket or cute vintage styled denim jacket and you will pull together a classic, glamourous but with rock n roll edge very fashionable look.

Twice Bitten's Top Women who Inspire the Store

kate_moss
Another Favorite lady when it comes to rocking the best mix of glam and rocknroll style is Kate Moss; she always seems to get it right and looks like she could jump up on stage and rock out with the boys(or ladies)...the skinny jeans and biker jackets;the scarves and hats and cool shades. She always adds a little edginess to her outfits even in formal events.Love how she can go from alternative rocker chick to red carpet glamour always letting her style shine through.
The vintage bomber jacket i posted above(available in our Vintage Jackets category) is a staple for a Kate Moss look; wear with some skinny jeans; add some black heels and a scarf with a rock tee and good to go!

Dita, Dita, DITA!

I want to share with you some of my inspirations for Twice Bitten Clothing; i have an ecclectic mix of strong ladies who's fashion inspires everything we carry at our online store.Starting off with the beautiful and ALWAYS flawless Ms Dita Von Teese. She is THE perfect throwback to one of my favorite times in fashion; the pin up girl style but with a gothic flair. From her perfectly coiffed 50's style hair, ruby red lips, and porcelain white skin- to her always curve hugging and womanly elegant fashions-she is absolute eye candy! If only I could dress like she does everyday; but somehow going to the grocery store like this just doesn't fit into my life...but i can dream!
To get Dita's look from Twice Bitten try our Silky Black Trench Coat($49.50 AMAZING PRICE!)with some black stilettos and a little vintage curve hugging dress underneath(check our vintage dresses category;like the dress above "The Georgia Dress $42.00)And you will add some instant Dita style Glam with some dark shades of course and red ruby lips!

Hello!I have decided that Twice Bitten Clothing needs to add some spice ; some interactiveness to all the shoppers out there who have been such a GREAT support in our first year running. We are coming up this month; Feb 18th to our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY ! It's been a great year; have learned so much and had a blast.Of course as with any new business there were many kinks and fun things to deal with when we first opened-but it has all started to really come together and is just a blast sending all these great clothes out to our wonderful customers. But there is definitley so much more places to go with Twice Bitten...ready to reach out to more customers and share new ideas and style tips and what's coming and going at Twice Bitten! Now let's get this started and please be patient as i am a NEW blogger...and still trying to get this totally figured out. Now i don't claim to be a "fashionista" or know the exact 411 on what's HOT right now and ALL the trends off the runways; but what i do know and totally believe in is PERSONAL style, and like to share my own with everyone and would love to learn about others. Fashion and your personal style should be fun and expressive of the kind of person you are,how you are feeling that day and a way to show it to the world..not everyday of course; somedays we all just want to live in our sweats and not wear any makeup of course!Twice Bitten is all about expression of my style and sharing it with others who enjoy the similar style sense and see that it reflects their own...all very affordable and always unique of course!
Cheers to everyone who has supported us across Canada to the USA and everywhere else in the world we have sent orders to!So stayed tuned....this should be fun:)

Peace love and rock n roll!!
